Blogger blocked in Pakistan

Neha breaks the apparent news that Blogger (Blogger.com & Blogspot.com) has been blocked in Pakistan. I wonder if it has anything to President Bush's visit to Pakistan.

I don't get these moves by governments (its almost always opprressive or authoritative regimes that do these) to block access to sites that say things about them or their policies. I think by blocking these sites, they actually end up proving that they indeed are worried about the articles and commentary. They also ensure that the news of blocking gets widely published and is widely condemned. And everybody knows how easy it is to get around these ISP filters. So why bother?
